How to make EASY homemade cards!

Would you like to learn some simple tips and techniques to

make your own greeting cards? I have some card templates for you!

Rather than spend time at the store and paying a fortune, consider becoming a card maker yourself! When you design your own card, it will deliver the message YOU want to send! These few tips will kick up your card making a notch! You likely already have some supplies at home you can use.

1) Find some paper that you like and a few patterns that go with it. Be looking for contrast. See the dark green plaid and how crisp the white stripes look? That is what you are going for. Look for a bigger pattern and a smaller pattern. This is a great way to use up scraps!

2) Determine the size of your card. I order BLANK CARD KITS from Creative Memories. They are a really nice size, and have 12 cards and envelopes, and cost about 50 cents per card and envelope together. They come in a sturdy box for storage. You can order them here…just put CARD kit in the search feature. There are multiple options, you can purchase just the kit, or the kit with adhesive, etc. Or they have some prepackaged card kits too! OR you can make your own! Use white cardstock and measure your envelope size and double it, folding it in half to fit inside nicely.

3) Look for embellishments that will accent your card. The sample above used the APPLE CHAIN Bordermaker cartridge. There are many tools that you can purchase to create original cards using your own paper! I have quite a bit of paper, so that is my usual “go to”. I like to use my tools and they are always available to match in the colors I need. There are fun preprinted shapes, stickers, etc. that you can have on hand too! Creative Memories has some stickers right now called “How Do You Do?” that I often use as the sentiments in my card. There a zillion options!

4) Use foam squares to add some dimension and have a few embellishments slip underneath for a cute layering look!
