Birthdays for Adults!

What are some good birthday party ideas for your adult friends and family members who just need to be celebrated? We wanted to create a special moment for my parents when they turned 80 years old. It was a milestone birthday so we decided to have a SURPRISE party and invite the family to eat all their favorite foods and show them how they blessed our lives! I was in charge of the Tribute Album! Everyone in the family sent in photos and a message of love for them. I was responsible for putting all of them in a photo book to celebrate their fabulous eighty years! I did this digitally, so I could easily copy and paste messages of love and add photos to the pages.

It is simple to order multiple copies once it is completed. Everyone will want one! My parents have thanked me over and over for this book! It is so sweet to see their whole life across the pages! They have LOVED looking at it and reading what each person wrote about their example and the impact they have had upon them. Each picture brings back a memory.

My dad LOVES Frank Sinatra, so to make it more personal, we put the lyrics to “MY WAY” on the back of the book with some cute pics of the two of them riding bikes. It was a magical night filled with love and lots of laughing…and worth every minute of planning together. We adore our parents and wanted them to know it and feel it. They were VERY surprised to see the great grandkids with balloons and signs as they drove up-that was half the fun!

One sister organized a timeline on the wall with each decade numbered with large vinyl letters at the top…1930’s they were born, then in 1940 there were pictures of them growing up. Each decade we added a photo of who arrived within that ten year span. We had 8 x 10 pictures of each of their children hanging up there and 4x6 photos of the grandchildren and great grandchildren posted as they entered the family. It looked incredible to see all those pictures representing each person in our family on one wall. They started something BIG!

Another sister created a video showing some of my parents most embarrassing moments. We had the “grands and the greats” re-enact those moments and she video taped them. She put it all together with some music and funny captions. We could hardly wait to see their reactions! If anyone in the family had not heard about those embarrassing stories, they knew them now! Roasted!
