Celebrating Kids Birthdays
It’s all about you! Sweet Birthday wishes!
It’s their day to shine and kids eat it up! Feed them their favorite food and gather at the dinner table to say what you love about them. Have a little notebook for each member of the family and jot down what people say (you can reference this when you add those thoughts to an album with the birthday pics later) so they will remember them!
If we could not fit everything we wanted to in one day, we would have “Birthday Week” and just continue the celebrating! How about giving a gift to them at the very minute they were born? If they were born at 3:30pm. have a present ready to open so they know you remember the exact moment they entered the family! Every child wants to hear their birth story, and wants to know how you felt about it…give them the best details! Do you know the time you were born? How would it make you feel if you had been told that your whole life?
One of my favorite memories is having “Birthday Dates” with my Dad. He would take us somewhere special and it was usually a surprise-it made me feel very grown up! My husband did this with our kids too-it’s great one on one time and a beautiful memory.

Repeat this Happy Birthday verse with your child on the evening before their big day! They will eat it up! It just amplifies the excitement! Be intentional about how you celebrate people you love! It really is all about THEM!
Every child has something to teach you. What is it that you really love about them? TELL THEM. Let them know what their unique gifts are. These are hard for kids to identify themselves, but when they are affirmed by you, it will ring true!
Birthday Ideas for Teenagers…
16 wonderful Years of Loving You!
I heard about this idea just before my second daughter had her “Sweet Sixteen” Birthday celebration and could not wait to do it! It’s a great gift idea for a Sweet Sixteen Birthday or adaptable to any other. I did it for my twins too. Every child needs to be recognized individually, but that is especially important for twin birthdays! Write down 16 things you love about your 16 year old and that will be the title for each page. Gather images that reflect that quality to put on the pages. They can be at different ages. It’s really fun to see photos of your child across time on the same page. I did this digitally because it was faster for me, since my images were already digital and it was close to birthday time…(so my life!) You could do this with traditional scrapbook supplies and use ABC letters or a Silhouette if you have one for titles. There are so many ways to adapt this! You could use a smaller book for a girlfriend’s birthday and include photos of the two of you and what you love about her. You could do it for an 40th Birthday party and have people send a photo and what they love about the birthday recipient to include…the key here is that it is a book with what everyone loves about you! So affirming!
Wouldn’t you love a book with what everyone loves about you?
Want a quick idea? Use single words. Your words have impact!
Email or text a group of people that love the birthday recipient. Ask them for 2 or 3 words that describe them..what are the first few qualities that come to mind? Use that for the journaling in your book. Patient- Kind- Steady-Loyal-Generous-Faithful-Sincere-Hardworking-Friendly…
