A Walk in the Park and Pumpkin Vine Border Punches!

Here are some ideas featured on the CM blog created by my friend Lauren at Craft Some Joy, to help you use those punches right away!
Products Needed: Walking on Sunshine Paper Pack, Laser Pack, Walk in the Park Border Punch, White Solid Cardstock, Blank Card Kit, Custom Cutting System with Circle Patterns, 12 inch Trimmer with Straight and Wave blades, 12 inch Decorative Trimmer, Corner Rounder, Must Have Laser Title Embellishments Pk.2, Tape Runner or Repositionable Tape Runner.
2-Page Layout for the “Fantastic Day” Border
Step 1: With the 12-inch Trimmer, cut the waves paper at 10″ then turn the 12″ x 10″ paper to create another cut at 5″. (You will have a 10″ x 5″ rectangle and a 10″ x 7″ rectangle.)
Step 2: Using the full sheet of yellow sunshine suns paper (or paper of your choice), cut a 12″ x 7″ strip.
Step 3: With the same paper, cut a 2-1/2″ strip. (You will have one additional 2-1/2″ strip.)
Step 4: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, cut the remaining 12″ x 2″ flip-flops paper in half, so you will have two 12″ x 1″ strips. Cut both strips at 5″.
Step 5: Place cut paper on a double-page spread as shown, adding the Fantastic Day border.
Instructions for “Fantastic Day” Border:
Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Wave Blade, cut a piece of White Solid Cardstock to measure 12″ x 2 3/4″.
Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, cut a piece of the waves paper to measure 2 1/2″ x 12″. (Make sure the waves are going horizontal.)
Step 3: Cut three circles out of the sunshine yellow suns paper using the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern on the inside track using the Red Blade.
Step 4: Cut three rings from the flip-flops paper using the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern on the inside track using the Blue Blade followed by the Red Blade.
Step 5: Adhere circles to the waves paper, allowing some of the circles to go off the side of the paper. Carefully trim the circles with a scissors and adhere extra pieces to the border as shown.
Step 6: Adhere the “This was a fantastic day” laser title embellishment to the border.
Instructions for “Park Bench” border
Step 1: Cut a base layer of White Solid Cardstock to measure 12″ x 2 1/2″.
Step 2: Punch a strip of the green gingham paper with the Walk in the Park Border Punch. Trim to measure 2″ to the top of the tallest tree.
Step 3: Using the swell edge of the 12-inch Decorative Trimmer, cut the sunshine yellow suns paper to measure 2″ to the blade (swell).
Step 4: With the 12-inch Trimmer, trim the other side of the swell paper to measure 1-1/2″ past the edge of the swell.
Step 5: With the 12-inch Trimmer, cut a 2-1/2″ piece from the park bench punched paper. Next, trim a 1/2″ piece off the punched strip. Repeat cutting a 2-1/2″ then 1/2″ piece until you have cut the entire strip. This creates movement in the trees for your border.
Step 6: Using the 2″ sunshine yellow suns paper with the swell, trim four 2-1/2″ segments.
Step 7: Using the 1-1/2” fresh flowers paper, trim four 2-1/2″ segments.
Step 8: Starting at the top of the border strip, adhere the suns piece using the straight part of the strip for the top.
Step 9: Moving down the strip, adhere the park bench punch piece so that it overlaps the sun paper and does not show any white underneath.
Step 10: Adhere the fresh flowers paper on top of the park bench piece, showing the swell edge.
Step 11: Continue down the strip using the suns, park bench and fresh flowers papers alternately until you reach the bottom of the border.
2-Page Layout for the “Park Bench” Border
*NOTE: Either the park bench double-page layout can be made with the sun paper OR the flip-flops double-page layout. To create both, you will need to substitute the sun paper on one of the layouts.
Step 1: With the 12-inch Trimmer, cut the green gingham paper at 10″ then turn the 12″ x 10″ paper to create another cut at 5″. (You will have a 10″ x 5″ rectangle and a 10″ x 7″ rectangle.)
Step 2: Using the full sheet of yellow sunshine suns paper, cut a 12″ x 7″ strip.
Step 3: With the same paper, cut a 2-1/2″ strip. (You will have one additional 2-1/2″ strip.)
Step 4: Using the 12-inch Decorative Trimmer, cut one of the 2-1/2″ strips in half, using the swell blade.
Step 5: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, cut the swell pieces at 5″.
Step 6: Place cut paper on a double-page spread as shown, adding the Park Bench Border.
“Happy Happy Happy” Card
Step 1: Use a card from the Blank Card Kit as the base for this card. Punch a strip of the green gingham paper with the Walk in the Park Border Punch. Trim to measure 2″ to the top of the tallest tree.
Step 2: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, cut the park bench punched strip into three 4″ pieces.
Step 3: With the yellow sunshine suns paper used to create the border strips, cut a 4″ x 2-1/2″ rectangle.
Step 4: Using the swell edge of the 12-inch Decorative Trimmer, cut a 1″ strip and then trim into three 4″ pieces.
Step 5: Adhere pieces to card and layer as shown, leaving a 1/4″ margin around the paper edge.
Step 6: Adhere the “Happy happy happy” laser title embellishment.
“You Make Me Smile” Pull-Out Card
Step 1: Use a card from the Blank Card Kit as the base for this card. Cut the waves paper to measure 4″ x 5-1/4″.
Step 2: With the Circle Cutter set at 3 1/2″, cut a notch on the 4″ side of waves paper.
Step 3: Cut a 3″ x 4″ rectangle out of the flip-flops paper, round edges with the 2-Way Corner Rounder.
Step 4: Cut a 3″ x 4” rectangle out of White Solid Cardstock, round edges with the 2-Way Corner Rounder.
Step 5: Adhere the cardstock to the back of flip-flops paper, then punch the top to create a small opening. (Note: A picture can be added to this card to add some fun!)
Step 6: With adhesive, adhere the waves paper to the top of the card on three sides, leaving the notched side open.
Step 7: Cut a 3″ x 3″ square out of the flip-flops paper, fold in half and adhere it so that it goes around and inside the card.
Step 8: Add a small cut circle (left over from the border strip) and a pull tab to the card .
Step 9: Adhere the “You make me smile” laser title embellishment.
Sweater Weather Projects!
Products needed: Sweater Weather Paper Pack, Sweater Weather Laser Cut Pack, Pumpkin Vine Border Punch, White Solid Cardstock, Blank Card Kit, Custom Cutting System with Circle and Oval Patterns, 12 inch Trimmer with Straight, Wave and Victorian blades, 12 inch Decorative trimmer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Circle Cutter, Tape Runner or Repositionable Tape.
“Peekaboo Pumpkin” Border
Step 1: Using the 12-inch Trimmer with the Wave Blade, cut a base layer of White Solid Cardstock to measure 12″ x 2-3/4″.
Step 2: Cut a second layer out of the plaid paper to measure 12″ x 2-1/2″.
Step 3: Cut a 12″ x 2″ strip of pumpkin orange gingham paper. Turn horizontally and cut two 2-1/2″ pieces.
Step 4: Using the pumpkin orange gingham paper, punch a strip with the Pumpkin Vine Border Punch.
Step 5: Adhere the pumpkin strip to the eggplant leaves paper, leaving a 1″ strip of eggplant leaves paper below the pumpkins.
Step 6: Using the inside track of the medium Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Red Blade, cut four circles from the eggplant leaves and pumpkin paper, aligning the pumpkins in the circles.
Step 7: Adhere the cut-out circles to the plaid paper, allowing the circles to go off the side of the paper as shown.
Step 8: Carefully trim the circles with Micro-Tip Scissors.
Step 9: Adhere the plaid paper to base layer.
“Oh Happy Day” Border
Step 1: Cut a base layer of navy blue forest paper to measure 12″ x 2-1/2″.
Step 2: Using the wave edge of the 12-inch Decorative Trimmer, cut the leaves paper to measure 1-1/2″ to the blade (swell).
Step 3: With the 12-inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, trim the other side of the swell paper to measure 1″ past the edge of the swell.
Step 4: Cut an additional strip from leaves paper to measure 12″ x 1″.
Step 5: With the 12-inch Trimmer and Victorian Blade, cut the pumpkin orange gingham paper. With the 12-inch Trimmer and the Straight Blade, trim to measure 1/2″.
Step 6: With the inside track of the large Custom Cutting System Circle Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut a circle from the pumpkin orange gingham paper.
Step 7: Adhere the “Oh happy day” laser title embellishment to circle, then cut circle in half as shown.
Step 8: Adhere strips and circles to the base layer as shown.
2-Page Layout for the Sweater Weather Borders
*NOTE: The following base page layout can be used for both border strips, just by moving the position of the papers.
Step 1: With the 12-inch Trimmer, cut a 12″ x 2″ strip from pumpkin orange gingham paper. Turn horizontally and cut at 5″.
Step 2: Turn the remaining 12″ x 10″ paper horizontally and cut at 5″. (You will have a 10″ x 5″ rectangle and a 10″ x 7″ rectangle.)
Step 3: Using the full sheet of navy blue forest paper, cut a 12″ x 5″ strip.
Step 4: Place cut paper on a double-page spread as shown, adding the border strip of your choice.
“Friends” Banner Card
Step 1: Use a card from the Blank Card Kit as the base for this card. Cut the eggplant leaves paper to measure 4″ x 5-1/4″.
Step 2: With the Circle Cutter set to 4″, cut a circle out of the leaves paper. Cut in half.
Step 3: Using the 12-inch Trimmer, cut a 1-1/4″ strip of pumpkin orange gingham paper. Create a “banner” cut on the end and trim to measure 5″.
Step 4: With the plaid paper, create a 5″ x 3/4″ strip. Layer papers as shown.
Step 5: Adhere the “Friends” laser title embellishment to the pumpkin orange gingham banner.
“Peekaboo Pumpkin” Card
Step 1: Use a card from the Blank Card Kit as the base for this card. Cut the plaid paper to measure 4″ x 5-1/4″.
Step 2: With the Pumpkin Vine Border Punch, punch a strip of pumpkins using the eggplant leaves paper. Cut apart a single pumpkin and a set of two pumpkins.
Step 3: With the inside track of the large Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern and the Blue Blade, cut an oval in the lower-right corner of the plaid paper.
Step 4: Adhere the plaid paper to the card, leaving a 1/4″ edge around the paper.
Step 5: Place the second-largest oval Custom Cutting System Oval Pattern over the plaid oval cutout, and cut an oval out of the card front using the inside track with the Red Blade.
Step 6: Using the pumpkin orange gingham side of the oval cut from the plaid paper, adhere the oval to inside of card, aligning under the cut-out on the front of the card.
Step 7: Adhere cut apart pumpkins so they peek through the oval window as shown.
