Make your own TAGS!
You may be wondering how do you make homemade Christmas gift tags? Make the most of your Creative Memories tools! Their punches and bordermaker cartridges can embellish your pages and cards and also create darling tags with scraps of paper! My mom had a nice gift shop years ago and she would purchase giftwrap by the bolt, in a craft paper or in red stripe and wrap up her merchandise for people with beautiful ribbons. Going into the shop at Christmas time was magical!
Take a look at the wrapping paper you are drawn to. If its a busy pattern, you will want more of a simple tag. If its a solid or tone on tone paper, you can use more decorative tags. What look do you prefer? Keep that in mind as you shop this year for wrapping paper! I used the Christmas Spirit Designer Pack of Paper, some Brown, Crimson, Scarlet, Green and Bronze Shimmer cardstock with the Reindeer, Sleigh and Tag Punches to make a few tags. If you don’t have a Tagmaker punch, you can use the NEW corner rounder or the Custom Cutting System to help you. Let’s dig in and use those tools! Your Bordermaker system can add some fun layers too!
First, gather your supplies together. What do you have? What punches and bordermaker cartridges do you have? The NEW CHRISTMAS STOCKING bordermaker cartridge is very cute! The REINDEER and SLEIGH punches are new and a snap to use. When you look at the punch, you may think the size of the Reindeer and Sleigh are quite large, but they are under 2 inches and fit nicely into circles made from the Custom Cutting System and may even work in the older Circle Punch. I used the LACE TRIM Border Punch here with the Bronze shimmer cardstock and Cement Cardstock as a layering piece. To make the most of your time, cut a 12 inch strip using the Bordermaker cartridges you want to use with your tags. When you cut 2x3 inch tags and use these pieces, you can make 6 of the same tag, saving you time as you put them together. When you use darker paper, you can use the GOLD pen to write so the words are easy to read and your tags look festive!
If you don’t have a TAGMAKER, you can cut a 2x3 inch strip of paper and use your corner rounder to notch the edges. You can round them, or slip your paper in from the backside of the Corner Rounder and it will notch out a cute edge for you! Layer with your scrap pieces and your tags are ready in no time! If you are not sure how to do that, watch my Facebook LIVE and you can see me demonstrate it. If you would like to purchase some of these supplies you can right here.
One of the papers in the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT Designer Paper Pack has 25 squares that are pre-designed and printed right on it. You can cut them out and use them on your pages, in an Advent calendar or as a tag! Look at the tag with the number “4” below to see what they look like. If you want to see what each of the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT Designer papers look like up close, see the pictures below. Lots of fun elements to choose from!
One trend that is very popular this year, is using the first letter of the gift recipient’s name on a tag. You can purchase ABC letters from Creative Memories or you may have some on hand. The larger monogram Alphabet from years ago is a fun one to use if you have it! Look at the Crimson tag with the music note and the “C” on it.
Tie them up with pretty ribbon or bakers twine and you are good to go! You don’t have to make another run to the store, use what you already have!

I bought a set and put them together while watching a movie! I am giving some cellophane bags with ribbon and some of these tags away as a small gift for a friend. It’s great to have something already made up to wrap your holiday goodies with! Do these ahead of time and you will feel like a rock star when its time to wrap! You can order these online here. Just put “Under the Tree” or “tag” in the search bar.
