“I just like Christmas…Christmas is my favorite!”

How do you make a Christmas Scrapbook album, step by step? What materials do you need to make a scrapbook? I can show you beautiful Christmas scrapbook papers, Christmas Scrapbook Albums and how to complete fast and classic Christmas layouts! You will LOVE your Christmas book!

Your Christmas albums will be your favorite decoration!

I would recommend the Creative Memories Scrapbook Albums. They started the Scrapbook industry years ago and have very high quality products. I purchased my first album about 30 years ago after taking a class and learning why my other albums fell apart. Every year, they offer a special Christmas album. These albums are the standard 12 x 12 size and are a better value for you because you can fit more pictures on each page, versus a smaller album.

You have two choices:

#1-A Fast2Fab album, which is an album with refill pages that are pre-printed. This is wonderful if you want to complete an album quickly, or just don’t want to mess with embellishments at all. You can purchase the Fast2Fab album and just lay your photos in, and start journaling! You can always add another layer of embellishments if you choose. You can purchase the Fast2Fab Refill pages separately (and put them inside a Red or Green Bookcloth album) or inside the Fast2 Fab Album. If you would like to see what each of the Christmas Spirit Fast2Fab Refill pages look like, you can click on the video link below. Your book will hold 2 refills to have 32 pages or 64 scrapbook “sides”. You can see most of the work is done for you! This is a popular option!

#2-If you choose to Customize your Christmas Album, you can purchase a specialty Christmas album, or a Ruby Red or Hunter Green bookcloth album and have it embossed on the spine if you’d like to. You can chose the color of your refill pages to go inside your book. You can choose White, Spargo, (which is a speckled light gray) Natural, Black Refill pages or the Christmas Spirit Fast2Fab Refill Pages. I would recommend you use two sets of pages inside your book, so it does not get too heavy and put pressure on the spine. You can purchase refill pages in the color of your choice and page protectors that you will slide over your finished pages once you have journaled to protect them.

How to put your Christmas album together!

#1- Order your Christmas supplies and consider ordering the 12 inch Trimmer, repositionable tape runner and a black pen to get started.

A good paper trimmer makes a big difference in creating quick and clean pages in your album. This is the best trimmer Creative Memories has ever made, it cuts like butter! The repositionable tape is incredible! It is my favorite adhesive ever! You can lift up your papers and embellishments and “reposition” them on your pages without ripping anything. It is very forgiving as you work with it, but after a few days, it is bonded to your page like the regular tape runner. You will love it and want to use it on everything!

#2- Develop your photos and consider ordering a few of your favorites in 5x7 size for variety. Take photos of your decorations and things that mean a lot to you throughout the season. If you love your new cozy slippers or mug of hot chocolate, take a picture of it! Show how you made Christmas special during covid.

#3-Read through my blogpost on SIMPLE TIPS to putting together your album

#4-When using your repositionable adhesive, use about 1/2inch on each corner of your photo. Lay your photos down using clean eyelines to keep the focus on the photos. They are the main part of your story! Keep the main thing, the main thing- your photos! They are the focal point on your page! Make sure you leave space for journaling, using the photo mats that coordinate with the papers or purchase some of the LINED DESIGNER paper and cut journal boxes to fit in the spaces you have. If you make a mistake while you are writing, flip the paper over. There is nothing here you cannot fix.

#5-Make sure you journal the story! People want to know how you felt and what was important to you. Write like you are talking to a friend. It makes your album so much more enjoyable to read. Tell what you love about that person, that decoration, tradition or Christmas song! Make it personal! If you have children at home, have them write something. Their handwriting is so cute and you will love looking at it through the years. Creative Memories pigma ink pens do not fade, bleed or smear on your pages. The ink is acid free and so easy to use. They have dual tipped pens, with a bolder side and a finetip. Use the bolder side for titles or to highlight certain words, use the finetip for most of your journaling. It is recommended that you store them flat, not standing up for the best ink flow. You will love these pens and they last a very long time!

#6- I would recommend you list your Family Traditions in the front of the book. It keeps you sane during the season. You decide what matters to you and how you want to celebrate. This is how you make your Christmas season special. You make Christmas more magical when you focus on what matters most to You.

#7-Make sure you start out each year with a title page that has the date on it. This way you can see when each year starts and ends. Some people put their favorite picture there- or a family group shot there to kick off the year! I use stickers letters and numbers a lot to designate the year because I like the contrast of something bigger (the year) and something smaller, (handwriting). Think about thick and thin, light and dark, big and small as you lay out your page. The contrast is nice to look at. You want your pages to have a classic clean look to them. It is faster to lay out pages like this, and years from now, it won’t look “trendy”. This is your story! Make it reflect you.
