Dreams + Vision = Happy Albums!
2021 is YOUR year!
What did you learn for yourself in 2020?
“Dream Albums” are one of my MOST favorite things! Years ago, we were challenged to identify some of our dreams, write them at the top of an album page and when that dream was accomplished, take a photo, adhere it to that page and journal about it. It is SO exciting to see your dreams become reality, page by page! Imagine how amazing that little book could be when it is FULL of pictures of your accomplished dreams! What a powerful legacy to leave!
I LOVE everything about this idea! I gathered my family around and gave each of them a small 8x8 size album. We talked together about what Dreams were and the importance of WRITING them DOWN. My kids were younger, so I gave them post it notes and they wrote on them and placed one post it on each page. I remember asking one of my younger boys about his dreams and he said, “One of my dreams is to have big muscles like Chad.” (His older brother) It was DARLING! These conversations can be very enlightening. I highly encourage you to have them with people you love and keep that conversation going! The NEW YEAR is always a great time to bring these albums out…but don’t limit yourself to that alone! Find a regular time to review and work on them. I found out my daughter had always wanted to swim with dolphins. I had no idea! But now that I know that dream, there is a chance to help it become a reality. Share your dreams and help others believe in theirs! It builds connection and a belief we can become who we really want to!
The dictionary defines a dream as a “strongly held desired goal or purpose.” New graduates of an Ivy League school were surveyed as to their goals and dreams and how they would be achieved. Only 3% had a written dream with a plan of action. Twenty years later, it was found that the 3% were happier and more satisfied with their lives than the others who had not designed a plan. Does this surprise you?
If there is anything covid has taught me, it’s that it’s time to live with intention! What matters MOST to you? There are a few questions to consider this year: What am I doing that I should STOP doing? What am I not doing that I should START doing? What would I attempt to do if I knew I could NOT fail? It is up to each of us to see the beauty in every day things. Lets record what we learned!
Creative Memories has this little “HAPPY ALBUM” that is perfect for a 2021 Dream Album! It just called to me! It’s time to do this! Who will join me?
Who doesn’t need one of those? I have decided that I want to do a HAPPY ALBUM for this year alone! It will be my Dream and Vision album- I need to have something to anticipate and I know that documenting a series of small successes will propel me forward. What are my DREAMS for 2021? I am starting to list them now…there are 13 pages so if you want to stick with one refill, you can do 7-8 categories and have a Title Page to kick it off. Once I got mine started, I realized, I needed a 2 page spread for each of mine. I just could not do a single page! Having a VISUAL reminder of a Dream Album helps you define and focus on your goal! Have you heard of SMART goals? They are specific, measureable, achievable, reasonable or relevant and timely. When you scrap these, it just makes the process more fun! Once I got started, I had a hard time stopping! This project definitely lifts your mood!
I will have one page for dreams I want to accomplish socially, (how about pictures visiting friends and actually hugging them once we are all vaccinated?) financially, spiritually, educationally, physically, within my business, our home improvements, etc. You pick the categories that matter to you. This is the MOST important part of a Dream Album- that it reflects YOU and your dreams! I will include my husband and different family members will have dedicated pages. I want to keep this simple- so I will stay focused on it and look forward to taking the photos I need! If I end up with multiple photos I need to use on one page-peekaboo pockets is always the answer!
If you would like to join me, you can find the HAPPY albums on my website here, they come in 3 different colors. The one I bought is Terracotta and has 2021 on it. You can also purchase a plain cover. I wanted to remember this year in particular and celebrate my victories! This is like all the other coversets, the pages and protectors are sold separately.
Because the page is smaller- just 6.75 x 10 inches- there is room for a nice size journal box and a photo. Or 2 photos and you can layer a journal box underneath (in a peekaboo pocket and have the photo on top) to keep your journaling a little more private. You decide! This is such a cute size album! I don’t know why I didn’t order it before! It is perfect for a Dream Album, a favorite photos of all time album, a Travel Journal, or a Garden Journal- you make it yours! So many options! There are little kits on the LAST CHANCE tab right now that coordinate for just $5! Pick up a few and let’s get going! The choice is yours!
A fun way to start is with a quote that means something to you!
It helps you imagine all the possibilities! I have a hard time picking just ONE quote…so I made a list of a few that inspire me below. I plan on using a couple throughout my pages. Is there a Single WORD you want to focus on? Is that something you like to wrap your head around? That is a trend in the journaling world and I really wanted to start this year! If you like that idea check out Ali Edwards website and her ONE LITTLE WORD! I love the idea of ONE WORD to focus on. I am adding that to my book too! I need it in front of me all year long! Make the decision to do this! It really opens up your heart, so you are ready for deliberate change! CRAFTINESS is HAPPINESS!
